As manager of mailing services at The University of North Carolina, I can attest to the reliability and commitment to customer service of The Alternative Mailing and Shipping Solutions. 10 years ago we had a need for a specific accountability structure to incorporate with the centralization of the University's mailing operations. I talked to several companies, went to trade shows and postal forums, but could not find what I needed because it didn't exist. Andy and Nancy Jones made a point to find me and to listen to what I said (something the other companies would not do-they insisted they either already had the capability to do what I was looking for or the technology was just months away). In essence, The Alternative custom designed an accounting program that had all the elements I was looking for and spent many hours with other support groups on campus to get this concept off the ground. Not only is their service excellent, but they remain attentive to what my special needs are. This level of comfort and support is very important to me in a world of rapidly changing technology. The staff at The Alternative not only carry excellent equipment backed by reliable service, but they actually seem to enjoy what they do. I couldn't be happier with this company and intend to continue to do business with them as long as I am around.

Dear Steve,

On behalf of Divers Alert Network, Inc. I want to express our gratitude for your staff's continued dedication to the DAN Mailroom. In particular, Scott Pully has been instrumental in ensuring that DAN has the right equipment, and maintains it properly. As you are aware, membership renewal efforts in the DAN mailroom are vital to the financial heath of the organization and to our ability to continue to provide medical services to the recreational diving community. The Alternative is a valuable partner to DAN in our efforts to fulfill our mission.

Steve, it is a pleasure to work with an organization that takes the time to understand our needs, and that does everything in its power to help ensure that DAN mailroom stays in mint condition. You are always responsive to special requests, and do a great job in the daily duties. I appreciate not having to worry about the mailroom equipment.

I want to express specific appreciation for Scott's help recently with new equipment ease. He took care to work with us in finding the best system, and even arranged a guided tour of another site that had similar equipment. Thanks for all your help, and keepp the good work.

Sincerely,
Webb Roberts

We would like to take this opportunity to tell you how pleased we have been with our Omation FI-420 Folder-Inserter, purchased from The Alternative Mailing and Shipping Solutions.

This machine is used monthly for our water bill mailings. We have a newsletter and invoice that are folded, inserted in an envelope and sealed. The time saved has been well worth the purchase price. In the past it took four office personnel approximately a day to do this task, now one employee does this in about 2 1/2 to 3 hours.

The Erwin Chamber of Commerce also shares in using this machine with their many mailings throughout the year. It has been used for brochures and programs as well as envelope mailing.

Although rare, when we have called for service the response time has been very satisfactory and we have been back in service in a timely manner.

Dear Kevin & Scott:

I wanted to take this opportunity to say ''THANK YOU!. for your part in making our ecent revisions to our billing process here at Tri-County a success. It is always a pleasure to work with you and other members of The Alternative staff. As you know, this project proved to be more challenging as unforeseen circumstances developed during the ''live run.'' Faced with complications and impending deadlines, your assistance more than proved your commitment to our (customer) satisfaction through hours of diligence, tedious work, and testing. Also, knowing the critical nature of our project, you joined my focus on problem resolution and successful completion without regard to ''the clock''. Unquestionably, this demonstrates your sincere interest in the efficient and effective operation of my office. Again, my confidence in you, your coworkers and The Alternative's professional commitment to Tri-County has been reinforcd.I must also say that beyond your excellent service, I am very pleased with our new PFE mail processing equipment. This equipment provided my staff with the speed and efficiency to process our entire billing job for the month in just a few hours. Although we rely heavily on this equipment only once a month, it is nonetheless a vital part of our billing process. With over $ 3 million in revenue to bill monthly, slow processing and equipment ''downtime'' is not affordable. Consequently, I am pleased to have mail rocessing equipment such as the Automailer 11 to rely on.

Thank you again for your professionalism, sincere interest and hard work here. I look orward to your assistance on future projects as Tri-County continues to develop and improve our own customer service operations.

Very truly,
W. Kevin Roberts

Dear Andy:
In January of 1999 we met with The Alternative to discuss equipment needs for a new bulk mailing company. We had a business plan and the personnel to make it work. The Alternative advised our company and handled all purchases made since our inception.

Our company was the smallest bulk mailer in the triangle in January of 1999, we have since risen to middle of the top quadrant in bulk mail companies. Although we did work hard, we attribute a large part of our success to the advice, service and follow up.

The Altenative's Sales Team constantly updates us on changes in the industry and opportunities for us to improve our services and bottom line.

As we purchase new equipment and try to work our old equipment in different ways, your Service department has provided excellent support and really gone beyond the call of duty.

Accounts Receivable has been a great asset to our organization and has certainly helped us with all of our billing issues. These three department's working in separate areas have been a true asset to our team.

We felt it was time to share our thoughts regarding our service with you and look forward to continuing our association with you.

Sincerely,
Bob Liddle

NC State University Mail Services has used Ascom Hasler products since 1993. We started with the 335 mailing machine and have decided to change to the 350 to take advantage of it's wider base. The Alternative has provided excellent service on these machines for the past eight years. Because of their excellent service and the relationship we have with Andy and Nancy Jones and all the technicians from The Alternative, we purchased the AMS 24-PC accountable mail system from them and have had outstanding support in this area.

One of the things that I look for from an equipment vendor is the service that they provide. The Alternative has been a part of the Mail Service Center since its beginning and has provided excellent service. The one thing that ranks them above other is the fact that we receive service in less than an hour when needed. They provide outstanding service in the following areas, Quality product, service and training. The staff at the Alternative are extremely knowledgeable of the products that we currently use (primarily Ascom Hasler) and are always willing to assist in developing new methods to accomplish more efficient ways to process mail

The end results is using the most efficient way to process mail and save the taxpayers of North Carolina money
